Hello!
I wanted to drop a quick update for anyone who follows my little independent venture. I converted a large portion of the material from the JS version of Soundtrack of My Life to Ren’Py and added additional advanced features. However, as with many things that I work on extensively for an extended period, I needed to take a break and do something else.
Into this space, I began writing Convergence: Zero. Any of you who follow my work might recall that I had started working on a superhero game after being inspired by The Perfect Run by Maxim Durand. I had created a fun little intro session with questions (like a personality quiz) that was supposed to help determine which powers your character would get, and then it would pass you into the opening story. However, it didn’t make sense, and I was really frustrated with not having a “mythos” to build around.
After taking some time to palette cleanse, I decided to start the superhero game again, but in a completely different way. I didn’t spend all kinds of effort developing a complex structure that dictates powers or a strange series of deities that bestow powers, etc. Instead, I imagined what would happen if there were a different Large Hadron Collider (LHC) like the one operated by CERN, but when it went live, something went wrong, changing reality forever. This is the basis for Convergence: Zero.
Rather than focus on mechanical logic for making powers, I focused on what I do best – story. I have created a comprehensive database of characters for your character to interact with. Each one has a detailed backstory that unfolds over time. The more loyalty you build with them, the more they will tell you about their story, reveal their identity, and/or let you see them without masks or in civilian clothes. Yes, there are romancable characters as well.
I have a great story that will unfold over 30 days. There are six factions that your character can associate with, and each choice you make can change the course of your character’s life. I look forward to sharing more as I get closer. At this time, all Day01 paths have been completed, and I am testing them for accuracy and functionality.
See you soon!
